Two sizes, and where the line falls
The step from a van to a truck is not gradual. A 5-tonne body carries roughly half again what a Transit does in length, and more than three times the weight.
The Ford Transit is shown for scale — it is the largest vehicle you can take on a car licence. Both trucks need a licence for the weight, or one of our drivers.

Honest answer
When a truck is the wrong vehicle
A truck solves size and weight. It creates problems of its own, and on some jobs a van or a pickup finishes faster.
Multi-drop rounds across the city belong in a van. A truck spends its day looking for somewhere legal to stop, and every minute of that is paid for. If the job is twelve small deliveries rather than one big one, the vehicle you want is a panel van, even if the total weight would fit in a truck.
Narrow residential streets, villa compounds with a single gate and buildings with only a basement entrance are the other case. Send the address first: a 5.2 m body reaches places a 7.5 m one cannot, and a Ford Transit reaches places neither can.
If the load is open, dusty or long, an open bed is the better tool, because it loads from the side and nothing has to go through a door. If it has to stay cold, the body itself has to be refrigerated, not simply closed. And if it needs lifting rather than carrying, ask us before you book, because a crane or a tail lift is a separate question and we would rather answer it in advance than have a truck arrive next to a load nobody can raise.
Access
Checking a site will actually take a truck
Two measurements and one question stop most failed deliveries, and all three can be settled before the booking.
Start with the gate and the turn. A rigid truck needs both a wide enough opening and room to swing into it: a gate that a car passes through easily can still be unusable when the vehicle is 7.5 m long. Look at what is opposite the gate as well, because that is the space the front of the truck needs while the back is still on the road.
Then look up and down. Overhead canopies, shop signage, car park barriers and low cables all catch truck bodies, and the height that matters is the top of the body, not the cab. Ramps into basements have their own trap: the slab and the ramp are designed for cars, and a loaded 10-tonne truck can be well beyond what they are rated to carry. If a basement is the only access, ask the building manager what weight the ramp takes before anyone drives down it.
Finally, ask where the truck may stand while it is unloaded. A delivery that takes two hours cannot sit in a live traffic lane, and in most commercial buildings the answer is a booked dock or a marshalling bay. Send us that answer with the booking and the driver arrives knowing where to go.

Three things that decide whether this works
More truck bookings go wrong on these than on price.
The licence
Both sizes sit above the three-tonne line, so the driver needs the heavy category on a UAE licence. If nobody on the team holds it, take the truck with our driver at AED 250 a day. Where the line falls is set out in the licence guide.
Where it has to reach
Many basement car parks, villa compounds and older streets will not take a 7.5 m body at all. Send the address before booking and we will say whether it fits, rather than sending a truck that has to reverse back out of the street.
The loading window
Towers, malls and exhibition halls all run fixed delivery slots. Book the truck for the window the building actually permits, not the window that suits you.

Rates in AED start at these figures. Insurance, registration and maintenance are included; fuel, Salik, fines and 5% VAT are not, and a refrigerated body is quoted above the dry rate.

Costing
What a truck costs across a week and a month
The rate card rewards longer bookings sharply at this size. These are the crossover points, worked from the published figures.
On the 5-tonne, six days at AED 500 is AED 3,000, which is exactly the weekly rate. So from the sixth day onwards the week costs no more than the days you have already used, and the mileage allowance rises from 150 km a day to 1,000 km for the week. The 10-tonne behaves the same way: six days at AED 800 is AED 4,800, the weekly figure.
The monthly rates cross over at about seventeen days. AED 8,500 for a 5-tonne is seventeen days at the daily rate, and AED 14,000 for a 10-tonne is seventeen and a half. A fit-out or a project running three weeks or more therefore belongs on the monthly rate, which also brings 3,500 km instead of 150 km a day.
Add the driver separately at AED 250 a day, because that charge does not fall with the length of the hire in the same way. On a fifteen-day job with a driver, the driver is AED 3,750 against a truck at AED 7,500, so it is worth asking whether your own heavy-licence holder can take some of those days.
The refundable deposit is AED 2,000 on the 5-tonne and AED 3,000 on the 10-tonne, held against fines and damage and returned once Salik and any fines have come through.

Who carries what during a truck hire
Worth being clear about before the keys change hands, because a truck concentrates a lot of value in one vehicle.
The vehicle is ours to keep working. Comprehensive insurance, registration, servicing, roadside assistance and a replacement truck if one goes off the road are all inside the rate, so a breakdown is our problem to solve rather than your day to lose.
The load is yours. Insurance on the vehicle does not reach what is inside it, and cover for the goods themselves is a separate policy. Tell us the value of what you are moving at the booking stage and you will get in writing what this hire does and does not cover, before the first pallet goes on.
Running costs follow the hire: fuel, Salik, kilometres beyond the allowance, and any traffic fine picked up during your booking, all charged at cost. Overloading sits in a category of its own, because it is both a fine and a safety problem, and it is the one thing that can invalidate cover on a claim. If the load is anywhere near the payload, send us the weight and we will tell you which truck it belongs in.
Truck rental questions
Can I drive a truck on a normal car licence?
No. Both truck sizes need a UAE heavy vehicle licence. Most customers take the truck with one of our drivers, which also means someone who has reversed into that loading bay before.
Which size do I need for a villa move?
A 5-tonne usually does a three or four-bedroom villa in one load. Villas with a storeroom or a lot of garden furniture sometimes need the 10-tonne. Send photos and we will size it.
Do you supply loaders as well?
No. We rent the vehicle and can supply the driver. If you need people to carry furniture, arrange them separately and book the truck for the same window.
Can I get a refrigerated body on a truck?
Yes, both sizes run dry or refrigerated. Refrigerated is priced above the dry rate and quoted per route — see refrigerated truck rental.
Do you cover the other emirates?
Yes. Trucks run to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and the Northern Emirates. A route that repeats is quoted per run on a monthly basis rather than charged by the day.
How many pallets fit in each truck?
Eight on the 5-tonne, on either pallet standard. On the 10-tonne, 14 industrial pallets or up to 18 euro pallets in a single layer. Those counts come from the published floor sizes and assume nothing is double-stacked; a refrigerated body can lose a row to its thicker walls.
Can I hire a truck for one delivery rather than a whole day?
Yes, and a single run is normally quoted as a route rather than a day rate. The price allows for the empty journey back to the yard afterwards, so send both addresses, what is being moved and the time window at each end. If something can travel on the return leg, mention it.
Do you deliver the truck or do I collect it?
Either way works. Bringing it to you inside Dubai and taking it back is part of the rate; for other emirates that journey is quoted with the job. Most truck hires go out with our driver in any case, so the vehicle simply turns up where the work starts.
