Check your delivery point before you book. A 7.5 m truck will not fit into many Dubai basement car parks or narrow villa compounds — tell us the address and we will say honestly whether it can get in.
Weight
What 10,000 kg looks like on a 7.5 m floor
A 43 m³ box is big enough that most people never think about the payload. On heavy freight, the payload is what fills first.
Divide the 10,000 kg payload by the roughly 43 m³ of body and you get about 230 kg for every cubic metre. Anything packed denser than that reaches the weight limit before the box is full; anything lighter fills the space first. Furniture, exhibition stands and boxed consumer goods sit well below that line. Tiles, cement, steel, paper, drinks and frozen food sit well above it. Real loads make the point. Two hundred 50 kg bags of cement are the whole payload and cover a small part of the floor. A pallet of ceramic floor tiles often weighs close to a tonne, so around ten of them take the truck to its limit while four pallet positions stand empty. Pallets of bottled water behave in exactly the same way.
Plan with the weight on the supplier’s delivery note, including pallets and packaging, not an estimate. If the figure is close to 10,000 kg, tell us before booking and we will suggest splitting the load or adding a second vehicle, because the fine for an overweight truck goes to the driver and the risk goes to everyone on the road.
Loading
Loading a 7.5 m body when there is no loading dock
Cold stores and warehouses load a 10-tonne truck from a dock in minutes. Everywhere else it takes a plan.
At a dock, the truck backs up level with the warehouse floor and a forklift or pallet truck drives straight into the box. On open ground the floor of the box sits high above the yard, so anything heavy has to be lifted in rather than wheeled, and pallets go in by forklift from behind the truck.
A forklift working from the ground can only set a pallet down just inside the rear doors. To fill a 7.5 m body, someone inside pushes each pallet forward with a hand pallet truck before the next one goes in, so ask the site whether one is available and keep the floor of the box dry so it rolls. Unloading runs the same way in reverse, which is why both ends of the job need the equipment, not only the warehouse that loads it.
Secure the load once it is in. Pallets that stop short of the front leave a gap they can slide into under braking, so close gaps with load bars or straps, and never leave a single pallet loose at the doors.
If either end has no forklift and the load is heavy, tell us before booking. Whether a truck with a tail lift can be allocated depends on the unit, so we confirm it for your dates rather than assume it, and loaders for loose items are arranged separately from the truck.
Refrigerated build
The 10 ton refrigerated truck version
The same 7.5 m body, built as an insulated reefer instead of a dry box. This is the size most cold-store transfers and bulk frozen distribution runs use, because it moves a full pallet load at one temperature instead of splitting the job across two vehicles.
What a 10 ton reefer holds
Roughly 43 m³ of insulated body and 10,000 kg of payload — a full day of frozen distribution, or a single transfer between cold stores. The floor is flat and the rear shutter opens the full width for pallet loading.
Frozen or chilled, not both
The unit holds anywhere from −18 °C for frozen to +5 °C for chilled. It holds one setting for the whole run — the body cannot be split, so a mixed frozen and chilled load needs either two trips or insulated boxes for the smaller half.
Before you book
The body is cooled to your setting before the truck reaches you, and the product has to arrive at the dock already at that temperature. Driving a 10-tonne needs a UAE heavy vehicle licence; our driver costs AED 250 a day.

On the road
The rules a 10-tonne truck drives under in Dubai today
Truck movement rules in Dubai changed in 2026, and many websites still print the old schedule.
Since 21 March 2026, RTA and Dubai Police have allowed trucks on Dubai’s roads around the clock until further notice. The exceptions are the Airport Tunnel and the Al Shindagha Tunnel, where the restrictions stayed in place. The easing began as a short-term measure and has been extended rather than written into permanent rules, so a job tied to a fixed delivery slot should still have a plan for the older peak-hour schedule coming back.
Residential areas are a separate matter. Many communities and older neighbourhoods do not suit a vehicle this size, physically or under their own rules, and an address inside one should be checked before the truck is booked. Rates in AED start from these figures and include insurance, registration and maintenance. The body type, the length of the hire and the distance decide the final figure, and fuel, Salik, fines and 5% VAT are added on top.

Transfers
Planning a warehouse transfer day
Moving stock between Jebel Ali, Dubai Investments Park and the Sharjah industrial areas is the most common 10-tonne job. The truck is rarely what limits it.
The driver’s day is nine hours, and the docks take more of it than the road. Jebel Ali to the Sharjah industrial areas is roughly 70 km each way, which is manageable twice in a day, but each round also means waiting to load at one end and waiting to unload at the other. Book dock slots at both warehouses before booking the truck, and plan the number of runs from the slots rather than from the map.
Repeated runs pass the 150 km daily allowance quickly, which is why regular transfers are quoted per route rather than on the day rate. Free zone warehouses in Jebel Ali also need a cargo gate pass arranged through Dubai Trade, usually by the tenant or its forwarder, before the truck arrives, so a transfer out of the free zone starts with paperwork, not with the engine.
Single runs
One-way jobs and the return leg
Plenty of 10-tonne work is a single delivery rather than a day of hire. Those jobs are priced differently, and a little information makes the price better.
A route quote needs the start and end addresses, what the load is and roughly what it weighs, the time window at each end, and how long loading and unloading are likely to take. With those, the price covers the whole job instead of a day rate plus extras.
The truck still has to come back to our yard, and that empty return is part of the cost. If there is a load for the way back, even a small one, tell us: turning an empty return into a paid one is the easiest way to bring a single-run price down.
10-tonne truck questions
Do you supply the driver?
Almost always, yes. A 10-tonne truck needs a UAE heavy vehicle licence and experience with a vehicle this size. If your own driver is licensed we will rent it self-drive, but tell us in advance.
Are there road restrictions in Dubai?
Fewer than there used to be. Since 21 March 2026 trucks may use Dubai’s roads around the clock until further notice, except in the Airport Tunnel and the Al Shindagha Tunnel. Because that is an extended easing rather than a permanent change, check the current position before a job with a fixed delivery slot.
How many pallets does it take?
On the published 7.5 × 2.4 m floor, 14 industrial pallets or up to 18 euro pallets fit in a single layer, without double-stacking. A refrigerated body’s thicker walls can cost a row of euro pallets, so send us the pallet type and count and we will confirm the exact truck.
Can I hire it for a single trip?
Yes. One-way and single-run jobs are common at this size and are usually quoted per route rather than per day, which works out better for you.
Is this the same as a 10 ton truck?
Yes. We write it as 10-tonne, most people search for a 10 ton truck, and it is the same vehicle — a 7.5 m body carrying 10,000 kg. The number is the payload, not the weight of the truck itself.
